Daylight robbery!

By Martin Plowman

Boro nick it with the last play!

Boro's 17's travelled to St Neots for the last game of the season and started well after last weeks game at Lutterworth. Boro had all the possession and territory for the first five minutes and looked to open the scoring on several occasions. However missed tackles then allowed the St Neots centre to break away and score under the posts, 7-0. This was then repeated later in the half and it left Boro scratching their heads as to how they were suddenly in this position.
Some sharp words and personel changes led to a brighter start in the second half as Josh Anderson scored a try but the theme of lack of discipline returned as Boro conceded two penalties for high tackles and then some back chat led to St Neots kicking right into the corner, of course St Neots then capitalized on this and scored a 7 pointer to lead 19-5
Back came Boro with around 15mins to play Ben Plowman received a quickly taken tap penalty and weaved his way to the try line 19-10
With three minutes to play Tommy Jenkins crashed over for 19-15 and with the last play St Neots became the ones to fall foul of the referee, they believed that they had tackled the Boro winger into touch only to find a penalty given for a high tackle. Boro went again and crashed for the line only to somehow be held up and the turnover conceded.... unfortunately for the St Neots player who went to kick the ball dead he completely missed his kick and to his horror Finn Green and George Crisp pounced for 20-19... James Maher kicked the conversion and the 2016/17 season was over! There were not many positives in todays game, we were flat, made too many basic errors and repeatedly failed to listen to the referee, then committed the same indisciplines... One good note is that we never gave up, Man of the match was captain Morgan Skett who tackled all day.... We end on the fact that we are looking forward to next season and Saturday Colts rugby...
