Boro back it up with win over Bugbrooke
An impressive performance sees Boro to 2nd victory of season
Wellingborough travelled to Bugbrooke this week looking to back up their home victory. A few changes saw Ryan Mackie start at fly half, utility backs Rob Owen and Andy Seaton move to full back and scrum half respectively and Kyle Danns moving into the second row. Bugbrooke have been established in Midlands East 1 for a few seasons and were expected to be a tough proposition for the Boro team.
Bugbrooke kicked off to Boro and immediately had Boro on the back foot, they were awarded with a penalty as Boro were offside which was duly converted (Bugbrooke 3v0 Boro). Both teams were playing on the edge and as a result the referee saw to exert his authority by penalising both sides, eventually Boro were given the chance to equalize which Ryan Mackie took (Bugbrooke 3v3 Boro).
Bugbrooke started to put pressure on the Boro defence which withheld a series of drives towards the line, however Bugbrooke finally broke through to take the lead (Bugbrooke 8v3 Boro). Straight from the kick off Boro responded and took control of the ball. A quick tap penalty saw Kyle Danns burst through a series of tackles and over the line to bring Boro back level (Bugbrooke 8v8 Boro).
Another attack saw Boro keeping the ball alive, offloading from backs and forwards saw Boro move into the Bugbrooke 22, the ball made its way to Ryan Mackie who side stepped the Bugbrooke defence to score next to the posts, he then converted his own try (Bugbrooke 8v15 Boro).

A similar start to the first half saw Bugbrooke come out of the blocks quickly and put Boro under pressure, they were rewarded with a well worked try (Bugbrooke 13v15 Boro). Again a number of penalties were conceded by both teams but a quick tap on the halfway line saw scrum half Andy Seaton break free of the defence and race to the line for the try which was converted by Ryan Mackie (Bugbrooke 13v22 Boro).
The next passage of play saw some scrappy play from both sides but Boro made inroads into the Bugbrooke half with sub Joel Smith driving Paul Lambert deep into the Bugbrooke 22. This positive play saw the referee award Boro a couple of penalties which were quickly tapped as Boro pushed for the bonus point, however a strong Bugbrooke defence saw these attacks repelled and the next penalty was given to Ryan Mackie to slot between the uprights (Bugbrooke 13v25 Boro).
Bugbrooke took advantage of a couple of injuries to the Boro team and responded with a try of their own and this meant that the score with 7 mins to go was Bugbrooke 20 Wellingborough 25. Smart play by Boro saw Bugbrooke offend at a ruck and although Ryan Mackie missed the kick it meant that Bugbrooke had to play their way out from behind their own line, they made it to halfway but some strong resolute defence saw Bugbrooke make a mistake and Boro went home as the victors.
