A team finish season with a win
By Rob Armstrong
And put in a great team performance.
Olney visited boro for the last league game of the season and it was a physical and tough game. Olney scored first with a line break and some neat offloading behind the A teams defence. Boro piled on the pressure and with Phil Meyer and Paul Lambert bossing the troops and some neat hands saw Alex Booth go over in the corner. Olney scored again but boro scored as well before half time with Ryan McGealy going over from close range making the score 12 v 10 to Olney at half time.
The second half saw boro put more presuure on Olney and soon worked a try for Brendan Hulse in the corner after some good forwards play Meyer and Lambert got the ball wide to Hulse to dot down in the corner. Hulse was again on the score sheet after sneaking in the corner from a pas from lambert again helping boro start to pull away. Boro did have a few scares from Olney but managed to organise the defence with Booth and Leslie putting in some hits and stoping and stealing Olney ball keeping Olney from crossing the line.
Boro started to create more chances and with Meyer and Lee Wager making serious metres in midfield and the pack lead by Parker and Morgan starting to get the nudge on Olney boro soon got on the score sheet again. Boro got a penalty from close out and hit the ball up with loveridge and leslie leading the charge and support play but from no where Dave Morgan with his quick feet and twinkle toes crahsed over from a metre out.
Boro wanted to score again before the game was out and did through Jevan Davies who had a great half on his return from Uni for easter. The ball got moved wide with James Morgan getting caught short but Jevan ran a support line off the ruck and went over to seal the game.
Thank you to all those that turned out for this game it was a great finish to the season with a great squad, great team play and great support from those players who had injuries as well.
I look forward to seeing you all on the 28th April for awards night and my chance to say thank you for giving up your free time to turn up and put in a shift for the A Team.
