Ladies that love mud
The Wellingborough Ladies RFC currently play in the National Challenge 2 league for the Midlands region and are always looking for new players and encourage beginners and returners to come to training.
We previously have played in the National Challenge 1 league for a few years and with enough players we are confident we will return to this league.
Our aim is to introduce as many girls and women as we can to the sport, through regular skills, fitness training and match days.
We have taken part in several XRugby 7’s competitions for fun and also enjoy getting muddy out of season by taking part in a range of different activities, we previously took part in the 2017 Nuclear Races in Essex. In 2017 we had a Tour of Dublin for the Women’s world cup final, with plans for next season already being discussed by our social team - Ellie Brightwell and Yasmin Crehan.
In May we were lucky enough to have a training session with Chris Boyd and Matt Ferguson from Northampton Saints with a guest appearance from Flyhalf James Grayson.
We train on Thursday evenings at 7pm and Sunday Afternoons from 1pm at Wellingborough Rugby Club.
• You do not need to have played before.
• You do not need to be fit before you start (that is why we train!)
• Don’t worry about coming alone, we are a very friendly bunch and will welcome anyone ?
This is your opportunity to try something a bit different and experience this great game.
You can find out more about the ladies team and what we're up to on our Facebook page and check out all our latest photos of what we have been up to.
For the 2019 – 20 we welcome in a new captain and wish Jenny Scott all the best of luck herding this team together, she is helped along by her Vice-Captain Louiza Chrysanthou and Team Manager Karen Stafford.
