16's defeat OG's
Victory over the closest of rivals!
Wellingborough's U16's took on the OG's on Sunday morning in front of a healthy crowd and started very slowly! We really have to learn that the game doesnt begin at the first whistle but the moment you enter the changing room at 10am! Boro didnt play for about 20mins and this enabled the OG's to open up a 12-0 lead after two tries and one conversion. Boro grew into the game but basic errors, specifically butchering 4 on 2 and 2 on 1 chances meant that a Dom Shaw try was the only reply prior to half time.
Sharp words from the coaches and a couple of changes saw Boro play with more urgency and intensity in the second period and a converted try saw Boro level only for the forwards then fail to deal with the kick off and then compound that with missed tackles to allow an OG's score next to the posts 19-12. But with Boro playing down the slope and 20 mins to go this game was far from over, OG's lost their Captain to injury and tide began to turn, two quick tries, one of which was converted saw Wellingborough into a 24-19 lead and the heads of the opposition dropped. The scoring was completed with another converted try and Boro had won 31-19. Special mentions this week go to Ollie Bullimore who stepped up to play, James Richie for his flying last ditch tackle and man of the match was George Crisp.
