Fighting 13's Pipped by the Posts
Close but no cigar!
The Under 13's had their first taste of the East Midlands competition today and despite another lacklustre start, the boys charged back in the second half from 19-0 down to finish the game 26-25.
Having observed the 2 minutes silence, Men's Own hit the ground running and took a firm control of the game, running in 3 tries and converting 2. Boro' struggled to gain their composure and were thankful for the half time oranges, as were the coaches.
Some inspired substitutions saw the introduction of new boys Ellis Denotti on the right wing and Oliver Bullimore at lock, the former immediately injecting pace and direction to the back line whilst Oliver added some much needed aggression to the pack. The boys quickly followed the example and found their fight and confidence, running in 5 tries to Men's Owns 1.
The scorers today were Carson Neil-Smith running in a fine brace of tries whilst Dylan Jeynes-Moore, Adema Laroussi and Brad Beetson added one a piece. Whilst the boys were clearly upset by their premature exit from the cup competition, the second half saw some of the best rugby the lads have ever produced in all areas of the park. Coaches and parents alike were proud of the performance and the graceful nature in which the boys dealt with the loss.
