Colts lose to Bugbrooke
By Martin Plowman
Another loss for the Colts!
Boro's Colts travelled to Bugbrooke with the First team in sunshine and the game ended in a dark downpour. This pretty much summed up Boro's day as the bright start faded as the game went on. Boro found themselves 10-0 up in the early stages of this game with tries from half backs Ben Plowman and James Maher. There were other clear cut chances too that seemed to go begging as bad luck and poor decisions meant the final pass wasn't made or didn't go to hand.. This came back to haunt Boro as the half ended with Bugbrooke breaking away and scoring a converted try for a score of 10-7.
The second half really didn't get going for Wellingborough and some good defending from Bugbrooke saw the Boro forwards kept at bay. Bugbrooke scored another converted try (14-10) and again it was Boro's turn to hammer away at the line as most the second period was played in the Bugbrooke half. As the game closed and Boro throwing the ball about a pass was intercepted and the Bugbrooke player went three quarters of the pitch to score in the corner despite a valiant chase. 19-10.
After three games the Colts are 0-3 in terms of wins but the coaches are closer to deciding the match day squad for the set of league games that are just around the corner.
Tommy Jenkins and Finn Green had good games, we welcomed back George Crsip from bat and ball, James Richie played well again, thank you to those 4 forwards that played on the wings but the MuMu Man of the match was Skipper Ben Plowman, he stopped a rampaging prop with his face, made several breaks, put in some good hits around the fringes and scored a try.
Next week it is initials weekend, we are off to ON's on Saturday and the OG's on Sunday....
